SEM Street Cred has been created in order to assist in cultivating a broader understanding and awareness of the Search Engine Marketing (SEM) industry for those unfamiliar with it, those misguided by negative experiences and those wishing to develop a better understanding of the industry itself.
Search Engine Marketing broadly defined encompasses paid search marketing (PPC), contextual advertising and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). Today, social media marketing (SMM) forms an integral part of the search engine advertising strategy and will thus also be discussed.
There’s one thing about SEM of which I am sure: The more I know, the less I know about a lot more I know, I could know more about. The search marketing industry, unlike any other is shrouded in unknown unknowns.

Having worked in the Search Engine Marketing (SEM) industry since 2007, I have experienced first hand both the lack of consumer understanding in the work that is done by SEM agencies and a severe lack of consumer confidence in service standards.
